About the Journal

Journal Summary

The RCT - Journal of Science and Technology from UFRR is an electronic journal with continuous submission and publication, which seeks to disseminate topics related to Exact and Technological Sciences. RCT has QUALIS CAPES (2013-2016): Computer Science C; Engineering I B5; Mathematics/Probability and Statistics C; Urban and Regional Planning/Demography B5; Chemistry C. E B4 in NOVO QUALIS (preliminary).

Focus and Scope

RCT - Journal of Science and Technology is an electronic journal with submission and continuous publication, linked to the Science and Technology Center (CCT) of the Federal University of Roraima (UFRR). Its main objectives are:

  • contributing to the development of scientific research by publicizing the advances achieved by the academic community in the areas of activity of the CCT (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering);
  • provide researchers, professors, and undergraduate and graduate students, working in topics related to the areas of the CCT, with an electronic platform both for learning and updating knowledge, and for disseminating the results of academic works arising, among others, from doctoral theses, master's dissertations and scientific initiation and undergraduate thesis;
  • to offer a publication vehicle for graduating authors that allows the student to experience the entire process of submission, evaluation, and dissemination of the results of their scientific work, contributing to their formation;
  • to encourage research and knowledge production by undergraduate and graduate students;
  • stimulate the development of scientific rigor, offering the student the possibility of having their work published and analyzed by their peers in their area of expertise;
  • perform the creation of a compatible base for various applications, including mobile media, to ensure greater accessibility.

Peer Review Process

The Editorial Team of the RCT - Journal of Science and Technology is comprised of two Boards (Editorial and Scientific), made up of PhD-equivalent doctors from institutions in Brazil and abroad, whose role is to ensure the quality of the publication by issuing evaluations on articles submitted for publication in the journal. All submitted work is evaluated by two reviewers (members of the Scientific Board), who are unaware of the authors’ identities. In the event of any divergence in evaluations, the editor forwards the material to a third reviewer. The evaluations are analyzed and their recommendations are followed by the Editor, and, when necessary, they are discussed by the Editorial Board.

The articles are always evaluated by reviewers who specialize in the same subject area as the text submitted to RCT. If the Scientific Board does not have two members who specialize in the corresponding subject area, the Editor (together with the Editorial Board) will invite two external reviewers to evaluate the text on an ad hoc basis.

On average, the review process takes between four and six months.

Frequency

RCT works with continuous submission and publication, that is, it will receive articles uninterruptedly and as soon as an article finishes its evaluation and review process it will be published.

Open Access Policy

This journal offers free and immediate access to its content, following the principle that scientific knowledge is made available to the public free of charge, providing greater global democratization of knowledge.

Journal History

RCT - Journal of Science and Technology was created in 2015 by the Science and Technology Center (CCT) of the Federal University of Roraima (UFRR). The RCT was conceived exclusively in electronic format, with continuous submission and publication, seeking to meet the dynamics of the digital age. Furthermore, the creation of the RCT aimed to contribute to the development of scientific research, disseminating the advances achieved by the academic community in the areas of activity of the CCT (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urbanism, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering), which is still today its mission regarding UFRR and science in general.
