With the expansion of peanut production in Brazil, there is a proportional increase in the volume of waste generated by this crop—its shell—which represents between 25% and 30% of the harvest volume. This article seeks to analyze the potential of this byproduct, which has historically been discarded or improperly incinerated, resulting in environmental issues. Using knowledge management as a strategy, this study aims to map the techno-scientific and industrial property landscape to enable peanut shells as a high-value input for the development of new products and sustainable industrial applications. A bibliographic methodology was used to identify bottlenecks and opportunities within this production chain, which carries significant weight in Brazilian agribusiness. The study concludes by demonstrating the effectiveness of pelletized peanut shells as a biomass solution for clean, low-carbon energy production, promoting innovation in the agro-industrial sector.
