Intellectual Property is essential to the country's economic development. Its application in the Brazilian coffee sector ranges from granting equipment patents, protecting product brands, and granting geographical indications. Coffee produced in Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, of recognized quality, linked to its origin and based on natural and human factors, recently achieved the Geographical Indication (DDO) status. This work involved the efforts of all productive sectors linked to the coffee value chain. This technical note proposes which productive sectors should be prioritized in order to catalyze the expected benefits of this achievement. To this end, a bibliographical study was conducted, which indicated that the marketing and distribution sector plays a leading role in consolidating the reputation of the DDO in question, with great potential to drive regional development.
