This technical note aims to analyze the pineapple production chain in the municipality of Itaberaba-BA, highlighting the economic relevance of local fruit farming and the potential use of intellectual property as a competitive advantage. Adopting a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, the study employed documentary research, literature review, and case study methods, based on official sources such as IBGE, EMBRAPA, MAPA, and INPI. The results indicate that Itaberaba is the largest pineapple producer in the state of Bahia, accounting for over 52% of the state's production, with the Pérola cultivar standing out. The production chain generates more than 7,000 jobs and moves approximately R$ 78 million annually, being composed mainly of family farmers. The organization of producers into a cooperative has led to significant advances in marketing, technical training, and access to credit. The modernization of agricultural practices, including localized irrigation, systematic fertilization, and phytosanitary control, has improved both productivity and fruit quality. Furthermore, the technical note highlights the strategic potential of intellectual property, especially Geographical Indication (GI), to add value to the product, strengthen regional identity, and expand access to national and international markets. It concludes that institutional strengthening, technological modernization, and the protection of intangible assets are essential for the sustainable development of the pineapple production chain in Itaberaba, consolidating fruit farming as a driver of productive inclusion, innovation, and regional competitiveness.
