Abstract

Digital bioeconomy has been an essential strategy for promoting sustainable development, aligning environmental conservation with economic growth. This article aims to investigate the role of digital bioeconomy in sustainable development, with an emphasis on the Brazilian context. The methodology used is based on a bibliographic review and a case study of initiatives already implemented in the country. The results indicate that the use of technology in its multiple applications can reduce structural barriers and increase the efficiency of the digital bioeconomy, fostering innovation across various sectors. The role of technology in the bioeconomy is analyzed in terms of its ability to strengthen sustainable businesses, expand market access, and connect entrepreneurs with investors and consumers. Technology can serve as a transformative vector, enabling the integration of sustainable production chains through digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and data analysis. In Brazil, the sector faces challenges such as a lack of infrastructure, limited market access, difficulties in securing financial resources, and workforce training. The study concludes that investment in technological infrastructure and public policies to encourage digitalization is essential for strengthening the country’s bioeconomy, consolidating it as an alternative economic model aimed at reducing waste and optimizing the use of available resources.
