In the field, connectivity refers to the ability of devices, machines, sensors and farmers to interconnect, sharing information in real time. This interconnection facilitates the adoption of precision agriculture, using technologies such as GPS, remote sensors and drones to monitor and improve agricultural variables, such as irrigation, fertilization and the application of pesticides. Efficiency in the use of resources and cost reduction are direct results of this integration. Connected devices enable farmers to remotely monitor crop, soil and weather conditions, enabling more informed decisions and rapid responses to unforeseen events such as pests or sudden climate changes. This connectivity extends to the supply chain, facilitating communication between producers, distributors, retailers and consumers, improving logistical efficiency and ensuring product quality. Thus, connectivity in agribusiness plays a crucial role in modernizing the sector, promoting efficiency, reducing costs, improving sustainability and contributing to global food security. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the coverage area and internet availability in the area rural area of the central-western region of Brazil in order to promote the intensification of the use of innovative products and services, as well as to facilitate the “connection” between products differentiated from geographical indications and potential products to distinctive signs and society, as a way of enhancing their value addition and local and regional development. To identify patents related to connectivity technologies aimed at the region's agribusiness ecosystem, patent research was carried out on the Orbit database, and the INPI database, geographic identifications on the official MAPA website and records on the INPI, and rural internet coverage areas on the official websites of operators, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), nPerf. The results of the intellectual property mechanisms researched demonstrate a lack of patents and GIs given the potential of the region, and restricted coverage of rural areas that have potential products registered with the INPI, and it is necessary to expand it as a way of enhancing the purpose of these Intellectual Property mechanisms.
