Teaching comparison and entrepreneurship practice in public and private higher education institutions of Boa Vista

Abstract

The entrepreneurial education has become the target of educational institutions around the world, each one focusing on regional differences where they exist. The aim of this study was to analyze the teaching and practice of entrepreneurship in Higher Education Institutions of Boa Vista. We used qualitative and quantitative research, exploratory descriptive character. The quantitative stage was used to survey involved 336 students of management courses from the fourth semester of two public and three private. In the qualitative content analysis was made of interviews with the coordinators of the five courses. It was observed that the perception of private school students about what the institution as to offer entrepreneurial training is much higher than that of students in public institutions. Examined that private institutions give greater incentive entrepreneurial practices, and that more than half of students of public institutions have realized the need for practical lessons of entrepreneurship, since teaching is more focused on theories, however, analyzed the approaches of the disciplines that deal with entrepreneurship, it was found that resemble, as evidence of the importance of entrepreneurial action as driving the economy. It was concluded that the private school students assimilate the need for entrepreneurial training and more than students from public and private institutions seek to give greater encouragement to the practice of entrepreneurship.
