Motivation of public servants: a case on public health in the Amazon

Abstract

For some time, many management scholars, along with researchers from other fields such as psychology and economics, concentrate their studies in understanding the factors related to quality of work life. This new look, just illustrates the great importance of human resources for organizations, highlighting the need to attract and keep people motivated and satisfied with and to work. In this article the aim is to identify the levels and main factors that cause satisfaction and dissatisfaction in the work of civil servants of the Ministry of Health of Roraima - SESAU / RR. In the literature review, and conceptualize people management and its importance in organizations, the option is to focus the discussions on the motivation and satisfaction, focus and purpose of this research. In the methodology, is the option for conducting field survey (survey), the quantitative approach to deductive logic and objective description. In the data collection applies a structured questionnaire with Likert scale. The results indicate a significant percentage of servers motivated and satisfied. Among the motivating factors, there is the "work itself" and "proportionate completion", since the factors of satisfaction with most frequently are "sense of accomplishment with the work" and "interpersonal relationships". Were also identified factors that generate dissatisfaction and demotivation. Results limited to a registry point to the need for further research, involving not only servers the SESAU other sectors as well as other departments of the State of Roraima.
